Academic Offerings

Chess: 1st - 5th    
JCDS is proud to partner with the Knight School to allow students to explore the classic game of chess. Lessons will include strategy, gameplay, and other skills. Students will exercise their critical thinking skills through a variety of chess-based games and activities.

Young Engineers: Bricks Challenge 1st & 2nd
JCDS is excited to welcome the newly added Young Engineers Bricks Challenge program for 1st and 2nd graders. This program will build on the concept of Young Engineerings in early learning, and offer opportunities to explore Science, technology, engineering and the concepts of  transmissions (belt, gear, chain), mechanisms (rolling, spinning), and principles (Lever Principle, Centrifugal Force).

Spanish Culture & Language: 1st & 2nd
Hola! Come dive deeper into Spanish the language and continue developing new language skills, while learning about Spanish culture. Students will deepen their understanding of basic Spanish concepts, and move onto more advanced songs, terminology and language skills. Learning Spanish at an early age is a great way to explore the diversity of other cultures. This class will include Kindergarten & 1st grades.

Junior Scientist & Engineers: 1st & 2nd    
Junior Scientists & Engineers offers students an opportunity to explore, learn, and create through science-based activities. These interactive and hands-on projects are designed to develop our student’s love for discovery and science.

Lego League: 1st & 2nd  
 
In Lego League, students explore Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) concepts and basic robotics. Students will research real-world engineering and environmental problems and work in teams to design, build, and program robotic solutions. Through this fun process, students will learn to collaborate, explain their ideas, and test solutions through trial and error.

Gymnastics: Kindergarten - 2nd
JCDS is excited to partner with Flip, Groove, Play! This program focuses on building self-esteem, teamwork, and creating a fun environment for kids to learn about fitness and gymnastics through movement and play. Their mission is to engage with each child individually celebrating their unique strengths while creating a safe, inclusive, and exciting atmosphere.

Sports Academy: 1st & 2nd    
JCDS is proud to partner with First Athletes Sports Training (F.A.S.T.), to bring a multi-sport academy. This program is designed to create a foundation of skills in soccer, basketball, group games, and team building. The JCDS Sports Academy is a great way for students to explore multiple active options in a non-competitive setting.

NOTE: Tuesday’s class will focus on developing golf skills. This is a newly added session to our schedule.

Sharks on the Run: 1st-5th    
Come join the JCDS Sharks on the Run group for a fun, active, and engaging running club with your friends. Students will work on proper preparation, stretching, stride, and running technique, as well as pacing and gross motor skills.

Junior Cheer: Kindergarten & 1st
Get ready to jump, cheer, and sparkle! In this high-energy mini cheer class, students will learn basic cheerleading motions, simple chants, and fun routines that build confidence and teamwork. This program will include opportunities to perform on campus.

Art Sharks allows students to further explore artistic passions through a variety of topics and mediums. Projects may include ceramics, sculpture, printmaking, multi-media works, and collaborative art. Small class sizes offer opportunities for projects determined by student interest.

Drama I: 1st & 2nd 
Step into the spotlight! This high energy intro class invites students to explore the magic of performing on stage through playful activities like improv games, silly skits, puppetry, and creative character work. Along the way, they'll build confidence, find their voice, listen closely, and work together, all while having a blast.

Music Lessons
JCDS is proud to partner with Musician Makers LLC to offer private music lessons in piano, guitar, and voice for students in Kindergarten and up. Lessons are taught by experienced instructors and provide personalized, focused instruction to help students build skills and confidence. To express interest, please complete the interest form. JCDS will coordinate scheduling directly with each family.

NOTE: Participation is a full-year commitment, running from August through May.

Junior Chorus is an introductory choral program for young singers. Students will participate in a variety of singing games and exercises that will develop ear training, music literacy, and ensemble performance skills. This program is a good match for any child who loves to sing.

Come make recycled art from cardboard! Students will create their own world through projects as wide as their imagination. This new program will give camper a deep dive into the world of 3D creations!

Extended Care

Extended Care

Jacksonville Country Day School provides after school Extended Care for all students, including those in the Early Learning program. As an extension of the regular school day, our program seeks to provide care that will compliment and support the mission of JCDS.

The Extended Care program includes daily homework time, physical and outdoor activities, arts and crafts, and a nutritious snack.

1:30 - 6:00 p.m. (Pre-K 3 & Pre-K 4)
3:05 - 6:00 p.m. (Kindergarten - 5th grade)

Annual option: 1:30 - 3:05 p.m.  $230/month ($2,070 annually)
Annual option: 1:30 - 6:00 p.m.  $320/month ($2,880 annually)

Kindergarten - 5th Grade options:
Annual option: 3:05 - 6:00 p.m.  $280/month ($2,520 annually)

Occasional Care: Pre-K 3 - 5th Grade Fee(s):
$10.00 per day (1:30-3:00)
$20 per day (3:00-6:00)
