Fourth grade students have been learning about Latin America in their Spanish and Global Studies classes. As part of this integrated unit, they were asked to make something that would help to teach English to Spanish speakers in science class.
Students could choose any station in the Makerspace and worked in teams to create their designs. The teams made a plan to complete their projects. Students used fabric, sewing, video production, Lego robotics, cardboard design, Little Bits, and coding in Scratch to complete their projects.
Not only did they approach the challenge of this project with confidence, they also communicated effectively about their projects to parents and other visitors during their presentations at the STEM Expo this week.
