Since its beginnings, Jacksonville Country Day School (JCDS) has believed that children learn best in a caring environment with small class sizes. JCDS has continually worked to prepare students for a healthy and productive lifetime of intellectual exploration, character development, and social responsibility.
Prominent Jacksonville, FL, families who wanted an alternative to the unaccredited (at the time) public schools in Duval County founded JCDS in 1960. They dreamed of a better education for their children and strived to turn the dream into reality. These founding parents believed that a quality education is best achieved in an independent, non-denominational setting. JCDS has continued to expand over the years since it moved to its current location on the Southside of Jacksonville in 1964.
Today, the Jacksonville, FL, private school educates children from Pre-K 3 through 6th grade in a nurturing, multicultural environment. A superb faculty and staff, enriched curriculum, and world-class facilities form the bedrock of the school. Jacksonville Country Day School uses brain-based research, teaching strategies, and curriculum to teach the whole child. Our teachers participate in professional development programs and bring the most current instructional methodologies and curriculum back to our students. JCDS offers a wide variety of specials including daily PE, art, music, technology, and Spanish. All of this takes place on a beautiful campus, which includes a fine arts center, state-of-the-art gym, and junior Olympic-sized swimming pool.
