  • Associate Teacher

    Job Summary
    The Associate Teacher will support the Lead Teacher during the academic day. The position will report to the Director of Education.

    Preferred Qualifications
    • Bachelor's degree in education or a related field
    • At least one year of classroom teaching experience

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities
    The Associate Teacher will:
    • Help support the Lead Teacher during the school day by providing another trained professional in the classroom.
    • Supervise students at both recess and lunch.
    • Assist the Lead Teacher with lesson planning.
    • Help differentiate classroom instruction through a combination of small group and whole group methods.
    • Provide clerical support by filing, grading papers, and producing take home folders.
    • Communicate effectively with all school stakeholders.
    • Support the school and its mission.
    • Perform other duties as assigned by and in support of the Head of School.
  • Lead Teacher - Early Learning (Pre-K)

    Job Summary
    The Early Learning Lead Teacher is responsible for instructing, guiding, and supervising students in a positive learning environment that emphasizes critical thinking, creativity, and problem solving; developing lesson plans and delivering group and individual student instruction; collaborating with other teachers, staff, and administrators in addressing instructional and/or classroom goals and concerns; and communicating/collaborating with parents regarding instructional program and student progress. The Early Learning Lead Teacher reports to the Director of Education.

    Preferred Qualifications
    • At least one year of successful teaching experience
    • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Early Childhood Education or related field
    Essential Duties and Responsibilities
    The Early Learning Lead Teacher will:
    • Create a positive learning environment for students
    • Set learning goals and develop learning plans to ensure student growth
    • Teach, guide, and empower students with instructional activities and learning opportunities that promote problem solving, critical and creative thinking, collaboration, global/social awareness, inquiry, and integration across the disciplines
    • Assess competency and/or developmental levels and provide feedback, support, and differentiation that will further student progress and achievement
    • Communicate to parents about student growth, sharing methods for improvement and reinforcement in the home environment
    • Participate in professional development and the school-wide culture of continual learning
    • Communicate effectively with all school stakeholders

  • Visual Arts Enrichment Instructor

    Job Summary
    The Visual Arts Enrichment Instructor will be responsible for our after school art program for students in Pre-K 4 to 6th grade. This includes, but is not limited to, leading our Art Sharks program, creating and implementing weekly projects, prepping and maintaining supplies, and management of two art shows per school year. This position reports to the Enrichment Services Manager. 

    Preferred Qualifications
    • Bachelor’s Degree in education, fine arts, or other related field
    • Ability to communicate effectively with parents, students, and faculty members
    • Experience implementing an art-based curriculum for students at various grade and skill levels
    Essential Duties and Responsibilities
    • Develop and implement a scope of curriculum that will expose students to a variety of art forms, techniques, and styles
    • Build a classroom culture based on positive encouragement of creative expression and respect for artistic interpretation
    • Differentiate instructional techniques to meet diverse needs of students
    • Collaborate in producing regular art exhibitions for students to showcase their work
    • Upkeep of accurate attendance records for each class
    • Maintain art supplies, classroom materials, and all school property
    • Nurture and maintain professional and positive relationships with faculty and staff, administration, and all JCDS families
    • Maintain constant supervision of students and effectively manage the classroom
    • Practice exemplary organizational and time management skills
    • Carry out other duties as assigned by Head of School or other supervisors
     
  • Aramark Custodian (Cleaning Service Worker)

    Preferred Qualifications:
    • High school diploma or equivalent
    • Ability to communicate effectively with supervisors, coworkers, Head of School, school staff and students as needed
    • Ability to accurately follow instructions and respond to changing demands
    • Effective team member
    • Attention to detail
    • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, with frequent lifting and carrying of up to 25 lbs.
    • Ability to use custodial equipment, copiers, computers, hand trucks and other equipment as needed
     
     
    Job Description: 
    Custodians working at Jacksonville Country Day School are employed by Aramark. The primary duty of the custodian is to maintain the school in general, and assigned areas in particular, in a safe, clean and attractive manner. Duties can include any of the tasks listed below. 

    Essential Duties:
    • Keep the school buildings and grounds neat and clean. This includes classrooms, offices, hallways, lunchroom, gym, auditorium, library, meeting areas, mats, sidewalks, driveways, parking lots, playgrounds, and all school property.
    • Perform event and activity set-up and clean-up, including moving furnishings and equipment as needed.
    • Attend in-service training (e.g. blood born pathogens, cleaning solvents, floor care, first aid, etc.) 
    • Change ceiling tiles and light bulbs as needed, often requiring the use of a ladder.
    • Report maintenance concerns (work order requests) to appropriate personnel.
    • Follow instructions from supervisors; adhere to company and component policies and procedures.
    • Accurately record hours worked. Take assigned breaks in designated areas at assigned times.
    • Display safe work practices, including wearing protective equipment and following safety procedures.
    • Prepare facilities for daily operations ( e.g. opening gates/access doors, disarming security systems, raising the flag, providing crosswalk signs, etc.)
    • Secure facilities and grounds for the purpose of minimizing property damage, equipment loss and potential liability to the organization. Lock and unlock buildings as required.
    • Operate various types of equipment and machinery which may include buffer, automatic floor machines, burnishers, backpack vacuums, Kivacs, wet and dry vacuums, commercial vacuums, buckets, wringers, carts, hand trucks, rotos, blowers, extractors, washing machines, dryers, lifts, ladders, tools, products, chemicals, and supplies.
    • Follow procedures for storage and disposal of trash (regular, recyclable and other trash) and transport to designated areas.
    • Regularly inspect school facilities to ensure the site is suitable for safe operations and consistently maintained in a clean and attractive manner.
    • Maintain supplies and equipment (e.g. cleaning solutions, paper products, vacuum, and mops, etc.)
    • Prepare reports (e.g. safety hazards, work orders, supply requisitions, etc.) 
    • Perform projects as assigned.
    • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Extended Care Teacher

    Job Summary
    The Extended Care Teacher is responsible for the oversight of students in the extended care program. This includes but is not limited to planning age appropriate activities, supervision of students, and keeping accurate attendance records. The position reports to the extended care coordinator.


    Essential Duties and Responsibilities
    The Extended Care Teacher will:
    • Fill out monthly planning work sheets with appropriate age level activities.
    • Keep accurate attendance records with sign in & sign out times.
    • Serve snack.
    • Provide constant supervision.
    • Make sure extended classrooms are safe and clean.
    • Create and follow a schedule for afternoon activities.
    • Communicate with parents on student behavior, conduct, and performance.
    • Develop appropriate discipline and reward strategies for student behavior.
    • Communicate effectively with all school stakeholders.
    • Support the school and its mission.
    • Perform other duties as assigned by and in support of the head of school.
      • Request supplies for activities each month.
      • Plan activities in the following categories: science, sensory, arts/crafts, group games, centers, books/book club.
