  • JCDS Camp Staff

    Job Description:
    The JCDS Camp Staff help with the daily supervision and operations of the JCDS Summer Day Camp programs. Camp Counselors must be entering 11th grade or above and Counselors-in-Training must be entering 9th or 10th grade. 
    Responsibilities:
    Responsibilities include supervising campers at meal times, leading games and activities, assisting with swim instruction, planning cabin activities, and maintaining order and cleanliness in the cabin.

  • Learning Design and Curriculum Coordinator

    Job Summary
    The Learning Design and Curriculum Coordinator's primary duties include providing instructional leadership and coordinating educational processes and activities throughout the school. The Learning Design and Curriculum Coordinator reports to the Director of Education.
     
     
    Preferred Qualifications
    • Master’s degree in education or a related field
    • At least five years of applicable/relevant experience in education
    • At least three years of administrative experience 
    Essential Duties and Responsibilities
    The Learning Design and Curriculum Coordinator will:
    • Support the school and its mission. Maintain congruency between the school's board-approved mission statement and all school activities.
    • Observe, supervise, evaluate and support the faculty in the development and implementation of curriculum. Ensure that there is a sound scope and sequence of curriculum and integration within specialist areas such as art, music, physical education, Spanish, and library.
    • Research and guide implementation of best practices, new curricula and highly effective pedagogy to best meet the needs of students and to ensure that student instruction is developmentally appropriate.
    • Ensure academic policies, procedures, and curricula align with the school mission, school goals, department goals, course objectives, materials, methods and means of assessment.
    • Be aware of the educational, physical, social, and psychological needs of the members of our school community and develop plans for meeting these needs.
    • Assist with the orientation of new teachers and staff members. Provide regular in-service training and evaluation of classroom teachers to ensure that teachers are familiar with and adhere to school policies in all areas of the school operation.
    • Conduct regular meetings with faculty which will deal both with routine school matters and with the exchange of ideas on issues of educational/philosophical interest and concern.
    • Provide for the academic guidance of students. Maintain complete academic records on all students. Oversee the grading and the reporting of standards and methods used by teachers in measuring student achievement.
    • Maximize academic time while helping to coordinate co-curricular and extra-curricular activities. Assist in planning and presenting school assemblies and programs.
    • Be a visible presence in all areas of the school.
    • Display a commitment to professional and organizational growth. Assist with the facilitation of professional development throughout the school.
    • Oversee and direct the activities of faculty committees and the sponsors of various student organizations and activities.
    • Ensure compliance with legal requirements of governing agencies. Maintain the educational standards established by the Board and by those agencies that examine and accredit the school.
    • Make recommendations to the Director of Education regarding the hiring, retention, and assignment of faculty.
    • Assist in assigning teachers and students to classes and other obligations. Assist in the preparation of a master class schedule.
    • Communicate effectively with all school stakeholders.
    • Assist with management of the academic department’s annual budget.
    • Perform other duties as assigned by and in support of the Director of Education.
  • Aramark Custodian (Cleaning Service Worker)

    Preferred Qualifications:
    • High school diploma or equivalent
    • Ability to communicate effectively with supervisors, coworkers, Head of School, school staff and students as needed
    • Ability to accurately follow instructions and respond to changing demands

    • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, with frequent lifting and carrying of up to 25 lbs.
    • Ability to use custodial equipment, copiers, computers, hand trucks and other equipment as needed
     
     
    Job Description: 
    Custodians working at Jacksonville Country Day School are employed by Aramark. The primary duty of the custodian is to maintain the school in general, and assigned areas in particular, in a safe, clean and attractive manner. Duties can include any of the tasks listed below. 

    Essential Duties:
    • Keep the school buildings and grounds neat and clean. This includes classrooms, offices, hallways, lunchroom, gym, auditorium, library, meeting areas, mats, sidewalks, driveways, parking lots, playgrounds, and all school property.
    • Perform event and activity set-up and clean-up, including moving furnishings and equipment as needed.
    • Attend in-service training (e.g. blood born pathogens, cleaning solvents, floor care, first aid, etc.) 
    • Change ceiling tiles and light bulbs as needed, often requiring the use of a ladder.
    • Report maintenance concerns (work order requests) to appropriate personnel.
    • Follow instructions from supervisors; adhere to company and component policies and procedures.
    • Accurately record hours worked. Take assigned breaks in designated areas at assigned times.
    • Display safe work practices, including wearing protective equipment and following safety procedures.
    • Prepare facilities for daily operations ( e.g. opening gates/access doors, disarming security systems, raising the flag, providing crosswalk signs, etc.)
    • Secure facilities and grounds for the purpose of minimizing property damage, equipment loss and potential liability to the organization. Lock and unlock buildings as required.
    • Operate various types of equipment and machinery which may include buffer, automatic floor machines, burnishers, backpack vacuums, Kivacs, wet and dry vacuums, commercial vacuums, buckets, wringers, carts, hand trucks, rotos, blowers, extractors, washing machines, dryers, lifts, ladders, tools, products, chemicals, and supplies.
    • Follow procedures for storage and disposal of trash (regular, recyclable and other trash) and transport to designated areas.
    • Regularly inspect school facilities to ensure the site is suitable for safe operations and consistently maintained in a clean and attractive manner.
    • Maintain supplies and equipment (e.g. cleaning solutions, paper products, vacuum, and mops, etc.)
    • Prepare reports (e.g. safety hazards, work orders, supply requisitions, etc.) 
    • Perform projects as assigned.
    • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Extended Care Teacher

    Job Summary
    The Extended Care Teacher is responsible for the oversight of students in the extended care program. This includes but is not limited to planning age appropriate activities, supervision of students, and keeping accurate attendance records. The position reports to the extended care coordinator.


    Essential Duties and Responsibilities
    The Extended Care Teacher will:
    • Fill out monthly planning work sheets with appropriate age level activities.
    • Keep accurate attendance records with sign in & sign out times.
    • Serve snack.
    • Provide constant supervision.
    • Make sure extended classrooms are safe and clean.
    • Create and follow a schedule for afternoon activities.
    • Communicate with parents on student behavior, conduct, and performance.
    • Develop appropriate discipline and reward strategies for student behavior.
    • Communicate effectively with all school stakeholders.
    • Support the school and its mission.
    • Perform other duties as assigned by and in support of the head of school.
      • Request supplies for activities each month.
      • Plan activities in the following categories: science, sensory, arts/crafts, group games, centers, books/book club.
