Building the Future at JCDS

We are happy to announce that the Center for Learning, Innovation, and Collaboration is on schedule. We are making plans for the grand opening after Labor Day.
The renovated main building will house our Welcome Center, library, makerspace, dining room, kitchen, cabana, and much more. What is more important than these walls, however, is what happens behind them.

We are not just renovating a building, we are laying the foundation for a brighter future for our students. Our new space is designed with this in mind.

When our current crop of Pre-K 3 students enter the workforce around 2038, the world will be a much different place. Although we don’t know for sure, we can see trends towards more collaborative teams and open office plans. The skills that will be in demand will be a lot different, if, for instance, a surgeon is operating a robot instead of wielding a scalpel to complete a procedure.

By creating learning environments that allow for more collaboration and better integration of different subjects, along with tech upgrades, our students will be more prepared for future success.

In addition to the main building renovation, we have added a new parkour structure, along with other improvements, to the field playground. We have planned new field trips including a Washington DC trip for 6th grade and an overnight trip to Camp Montgomery for 5th graders. Our team is also introducing new coding and digital citizenship programs.

Thanks for your flexibility and patience as we work to build a brighter future for our students and our school.
