At the elementary school level, key curricular areas such as reading, language arts, and mathematics are the focus of a developmentally challenging environment. The foundation built by the development of basic skills is a springboard for creative problem-solving in literacy, math, global studies, and science at Jacksonville Country Day School.
In the 1st through 3rd grades, children begin the process of becoming responsible students who are encouraged to develop good work habits as well as think critically.
Dedicated to helping all students reach their full potential, Jacksonville Country Day teachers are fully trained in providing brain-friendly techniques, as well as integrating technology
and character education into their lessons. All teachers are degreed and certified.
In addition to each homeroom teacher in grades 1st through 3rd, each grade level has a Grade Level Lead teacher, who is also degreed and certified. This teacher is responsible for differentiation, small group instruction, integration of best teaching practices, assessing the progress of students, helping plan integrated lessons, and working with parents alongside the homeroom teachers. Most importantly, the Grade Level Lead elevates the experience of all the students and adds additional expertise to the grade level.
Jacksonville Country Day School teachers promote a home and school partnership with many opportunities for parents to volunteer in student-related activities and events.
Specialists resources such as daily physical education, art, music, science lab, library, technology lab, and Spanish support the strong academic program. Many after school enrichment opportunities
are also available for Jacksonville Country Day School students.
