Board of Trustees

Jacksonville Country Day School, like many other private elementary schools, is governed by its exceptional and volunteer Board of Trustees. The following individuals have donated their time and expertise to help make JCDS one of the best private elementary schools in Jacksonville, Florida.

  • President: Jeff Kellmanson

    Jeff Kellmanson joined the Board in 2010. After a successful business career, he left the corporate world to embark on his second career as a stay-at-home dad for his children, both of whom are JCDS alums. His son Jack graduated in 2011 and his daughter Libby in 2013. He has been a steadfast supporter of independent schools for much of his life, having at various times been: a student (Allendale Columbia School), a faculty member (Culver Military Academy), and a Trustee (Allendale Columbia School and JCDS). He holds a BA from Franklin & Marshall College and an MBA from Simon Business School at the University of Rochester. Mr. Kellmanson is an avid golfer and chef who also enjoys rowing.
  • Vice-President: Greg Wong

    Committee: Finance
    Greg Wong is the Senior Vice President of Corporate Development at Web.com. He holds a BS from the University of Notre Dame and an MBA in Finance from the George Washington University. Mr. Wong and his wife, Amy, have two sons. One is a 2016 graduate of JCDS and the other is a current student at the school. 
    A former U.S. Navy officer and investment banker, Mr. Wong grew up in Southern California and lived in Northern Virginia for 17 years before moving to Jacksonville in 2008. He was elected by the public to be a trustee of Ponte Vedra Municipal Service District twice. He enjoys traveling, golf, and sailing in his spare time.
  • Treasurer: Rajeeb K. Das

    Committee: Finance (Chair)
    Rajeeb Das is the Deals Managing Director for PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP. He holds a BBA from the University of Texas at Austin and a Masters in Professional Accountancy from the University of Texas at Austin. Rajeeb and his wife, Sher-Lu Pai, have two daughters who attend JCDS. In his free time, he enjoys travel and photography. Both he and his wife enjoy being active in the community and enjoy traveling a great deal. They both believe a child’s success starts with a solid education and a strong support group. 
  • Secretary: Karen Mayfield

    Committee: Governance (Chair)
    Karen Mayfield is a Senior Vice President and Client Advisor at SunTrust Bank. She holds a BS from the University of Tampa. Karen and her husband, Ed, have a boy and a girl who both attend JCDS. Mrs. Mayfield is the board president of Leadership Jacksonville, serves on the steering committee of the Women's Giving Alliance, and is a charter member of Rotary of San Marco. She is also a Certified Financial Planner™ and a member of the Estate Planning Council of NE Florida. In her spare time, Mrs. Mayfield enjoys spending time with family, visiting and hiking the National Parks, being outdoors, reading, and date nights with her husband.
  • Member at Large: Susan Bateh

    Committee: Compensation & Benefits
    Susan Bateh is an Assistant General Counsel at Florida Blue, a GuideWell Company. She holds both a BS in Biology, with a second major in English Literature, and a Juris Doctorate from the University of San Francisco. Susie and her husband Michael have two children, a daughter and a son who both attend JCDS. Ms. Bateh was born and raised in the San Francisco Bay Area and began her career there prior to relocating to Jacksonville in 2006 upon her marriage. Most of Ms. Bateh’s time is spent with her family and professionally. However, in her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her family and friends, being outdoors, cooking, reading and exploring/trying something new.
  • Member at Large: Henry Brown

    Committee: Governance (chair)
    Henry Brown is the CEO of Miller Electric Company. He joined the board in 2013. A Jacksonville native, he attended Stetson University where earned a Bachelor of Business Administration with a major in Accounting and a minor in Business Law. He earned his Masters of Accountancy from Stetson’s Business School and is a Certified Public Accountant licensed by the State of Florida. After graduating from Stetson, he started his career as an auditor for Deloitte where he worked with clients in wide range of industries. Following Deloitte, he worked as a financial analyst for Atlantic Marine. Mr. Brown returned to Miller Electric in 2001 and became CEO of the company in 2012. Mr. Brown is involved in a variety of community and industry organizations in addition to JCDS. He and his wife Jennifer have three daughters who attend JCDS. He enjoys golf and traveling in his spare time.
  • Member at Large: Juli Davis

    Committee: Governance
    Juli Davis is a community volunteer. She has two children who attend JCDS. Juli holds a BA from the University of Florida (UF) and an MA from the University of Central Florida. She enjoys attending UF football games with her husband Troy and also volunteers at other organizations in the Jacksonville community.
  • Member at Large: Rebecca Goldwasser

    Committee: Advancement
    Rebecca Goldwasser is chief OB nurse anesthetist for St. Vincent's Healthcare Jacksonville. She is a graduate of Vanderbilt University where she received her MSN in women's health and critical care obstetrics. She also received an MSN in nurse anesthesia from Florida International University. She sits on many committees within Ascension Healthcare.  She has been involved in the JCDS community for the past 14 years. She has 2 daughters. One is a 2014 graduate of JCDS and the other is currently a student at JCDS. In her spare time, she enjoys traveling with family and friends, exercising, remodeling projects and Jaguars football.  
  • Member at Large: Michael R. Freed

    Committee: Audit
    Michael Freed is a Board Certified Business Litigation Attorney and a Shareholder at Gunster, Yoakley, and Stewart, PA. He holds a BA in English and Political Science, summa cum laude, from Jacksonville University and a JD, magna cum laude, from Georgetown University Law Center. He is currently a board member of the Nonprofit Center of Northeast Florida and is the Chair of Leadership Florida-Northeast Council. He has served on the Board of the Clara White Mission, Jacksonville University, and Leadership Jacksonville. He is a Past President of the Jacksonville Bar Association and was the president of Jacksonville University’s National Alumni Association from 2013-15. Michael and his wife, Crystal, have two children, one a former student and the other currently enrolled at JCDS. His interests include family, church, travel, community stewardship, music, comedy, and running.
  • Member at Large: Ruple Galani, MD

    Committee: Advancement 
    Dr. Ruple Galani, MD is an Invasive Non-Interventional Cardiologist with Baptist Heart Specialists. After graduating from Northwestern University, he studied medicine at the Medical College of Ohio. Dr. Galani completed his residency at Shands Hospital, University of Florida, in Gainesville and his cardiology fellowship at The Ohio State University. Dr. Galani and his wife Gina have three children who attend JCDS. When not practicing medicine, he enjoys spending time with family, reading, following politics, and relaxing on the lanai. He is also an avid fan of the Chicago Cubs and Bears. Dr. Galani also serves as Vice President of the Duval County Medical Society Executive Board.
  • Member at Large: Nick Kavalieros

    Committee: Building & Grounds (chair)
    Nick Kavalieros is an alum from the JCDS class of 1987. He is the Vice President of Real Estate at Itera International Energy and holds a B.A. from the University of North Florida. He and his wife Lisa have three children who have attended JCDS, including one who is a current student. Mr. Kavalieros also serves on the Pediatric Oncology Board at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. He enjoys the beach, family, and travel when not working.
  • Member at Large: David Kight

    Committee: Finance 
    David Kight joined the board in 2003. He graduated from JCDS in 1981 and went on to receive a Finance degree from the University of Florida. Mr. Kight is the COO of Akida Holdings, LLC. He and his wife, Katie, have two daughters, both of whom are recent graduates of the school. He also serves on the board of the American Enterprise Bank and enjoys golf in his spare time.
  • Member at Large: Kirsten Martino

    Committee: Advancement (Chair)
    Kirsten Martino is the owner of the Drybar Jacksonville. She holds a BS from Vanderbilt University. She is also Board member for the St. Vincent’s Foundation and a member of the Woman’s Giving Alliance. Kirsten and her husband, Josh, have three children who currently attend JCDS. Kirsten is a native of Jacksonville. In her free time, she enjoys traveling, hiking, reading, and spending time at the beach.
  • Member at Large: Elizabeth Misner

    Committee: Advancement
    Elizabeth Misner joined the Board in 2018 and has one son who currently attends JCDS. She holds a BA in Geography from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and has spent her career in roles ranging from transportation planning, project management, and strategic negotiation to social enterprise and nonprofit communications. As an active parent in her son's public and independent schools in San Francisco, New York City, and New York's Catskill Mountains, Elizabeth brings a broad perspective to building engagement within school communities to JCDS. She enjoys travel, hiking, kayaking, gardening, interior design, and exploring the outdoors with her son.
  • Member at Large: Jeff Rosen

    Committee: Building & Grounds
    Jeff Rosen is a Principal of Chance Partners, LLC, a real estate owner and developer based in Jacksonville, FL. He graduated with a BS in Economics from The Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania. He and his wife Christy have two children; their daughter graduated from JCDS in 2018 and their son is a current student. Mr. Rosen is also a board member of the Jacksonville Housing Finance Authority.
  • Member at Large: Carrie Saunders

    Committee: Audit
    Carrie Saunders is the owner of Kids Designer Warehouse Sale. She holds a BA Economics and Classical Studies from Cornell College, and a Juris Doctorate from Emory University College of Law and the University of Nebraska College of Law. She has two children who currently attend JCDS. In her free time, she enjoys running, swimming, biking, reading, and doing anything fun with her children.
  • Member at Large: Rebekah Selevan

    Committee: Compensation & Benefits
    Rebekah Selevan is a Jacksonville native. She and her husband Andrew have two children who are both graduates of JCDS and currently attend The Bolles School.  Rebekah holds a BS in Elementary Education from the University of South Florida. She was a teacher in Jacksonville, as well as Hong Kong, for seven years. Rebekah serves on several boards in addition to the JCDS Board of Trustees. She also currently serves on boards for Community Hospice Women's Board, Dreams Come True Women's Board, the JCA, the Jewish Federation of Jacksonville, and the Jacksonville Jewish Center. The Selevans are also involved with United Way.  In addition to volunteering, Rebekah loves to travel with her friends and family. Rebekah brings a love of children and an educational background to the JCDS Board of Trustees.
  • Member at Large: Justin Terry

    Committee: Compensation & Benefits (Chair)
    Justin Terry is the President and Chief Business Development Officer at Harden, an insurance, risk, and employee benefits management firm. He holds a BBA in Risk Management & Insurance from the University of Georgia. He has served on numerous boards over the years and currently serves on his firm’s board as well as that of the YMCA of Florida’s First Coast. Justin and his wife, Paige, have two children who currently attend JCDS. While most of his time is consumed professionally and supporting his children’s activities, he also enjoys travel, sports, and reading.
  • Ex Officio Member: Patricia S. Blanchard

    Pat Blanchard began on the Board of JCDS as the president of the Parents' Association in 1995. After that allotted one year term, she was invited to “officially” join the Board. Mrs. Blanchard’s two sons, both JCDS alums, started in the Pre-K program. She served as the corresponding secretary plus co-chaired the Capital Campaign with Bill Bond for the 4th Grade Wing. After 10 years, Mrs. Blanchard was voted the school’s first honorary board member. She continues to serve JCDS on the Buildings and Grounds committee. Blanchard has been the Director of the Jacksonville Women’s Business Center (JWBC) since 2009, which advances the success of women entrepreneurs at every stage of business development. The JWBC is a program of the JAX Chamber Foundation and funded in part by the U.S. Small Business Administration. Her passion is gardening, and she has been instrumental in planning and planting much of the campus landscaping.
  • Ex Officio Member: Dennis M. Smith, Jr. MD

    Committee: Advancement
    Dr. Dennis Smith, MD joined the board in 2006. He and his wife, Julie, have a daughter, who graduated from JCDS in 2008 and is now at The Bolles School. Dr. Smith enjoys fly-fishing, wine tasting, and creative writing in his free time. He is the president of Smith Management Consulting Services.
  • Ex Officio Member: Daniel S. Yip, MD

    Dr. Daniel Yip joined the board in 2004 and served as president from 2009-2011. He was born and raised in southern California and moved to Jacksonville in 2001 from St. Louis to be director of Heart Failure and Transplantation at Mayo Clinic. He has two children who graduated from JCDS. His son was in the class of 2003 and his daughter was in the class of 2008. He earned a BA from the University of California, Los Angeles and an MD from the American University of the Caribbean. He is married to Teresa Rodriguez-Yip.
Located In Jacksonville, FL, Jacksonville Country Day School is a private school for Pre-K 3 through 6th grade. JCDS prepares students for a healthy and productive lifetime of intellectual exploration, character development, and social responsibility.
