  • AmberJax Swimming

    JCDS is proud to continue our partnership with the AmberJax Swim organization. This is a year-round program that is sanctioned by USA Swimming. Specific questions about AmberJax should be directed to Martin Zubero (zuberom@esj.org).

    Participation Ages: K - 6th grade
    Days: Monday - Friday (Practice beginning Aug. 21)
    Time: 3:30 - 5:00 p.m.
    Length of Program: August - May
    Participation Fees: $60 - $85 per month based on each student’s swimming level and the number of practice days required.
     
    Note: Students must have basic swimming skills and be able to perform a minimum distance of freestyle and backstroke skills in order to participate. 

     
     

  • Art Sharks

    JCDS offers Art Sharks classes by grade level that focus on drawing, painting, and mixed media as well as other special projects. Please email enrichment@jcds.com for information about Art Sharks. 

    Participation Ages: Pre-K 4 - 6th grade
    Days and Times:
    Pre-K 4: Tuesdays from 1:45 - 2:45 p.m.
    Kindergarten (Group 1): Wednesdays from 1:45 - 2:45 p.m.
    Kindergarten (Group 2): Thursdays from 1:45 - 2:45 p.m.
    Grade 1: Mondays from 3:05 - 4:15 p.m.
    Grade 2: Tuesdays from 3:05 - 4:15 p.m.
    Grade 3: Thursdays from 3:05 - 4:15 p.m.
    Grade 4: Wednesdays from 3:05 - 4:15 p.m.
    Grades 5 - 6: Fridays from 3:05 - 4:15 p.m.
    Length of Program: August - November & January - April (7 months)
    Participation Fees: $95 per month
     
  • Band

    Chrystal Staples, JCDS Band & Drumline Specialist, is pleased to once again lead the JCDS Band. The group performs multiple times during the school year both on and off campus.

    Participation Ages: 3rd - 6th grade
    Days and Times:
    Beginning band: 7:15 - 8:00 a.m. Mondays and Wednesdays
    Advanced band: 7:15 - 8:00 a.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays
    Combined band: 7:15 - 8:00 a.m. Fridays
    Length of Program: August - May
    Participation Fees: $580 per year (two payments of $290 billed in September and January)
     
  • Band Lessons

    Private music lessons are available for brass, woodwind, and percussion instruments. Lessons are taught by Chrystal and Kent Staples.

    Participation Ages: 3rd - 6th grade
    Days: Monday - Friday
    Time: 3:05 - 6:00 p.m.
    Length of Program: August - May
    Participation Fees: $35 per half hour lesson
     
     
  • Basketball: JCDS Sharks Teams

    JCDS is a member of an athletics conference of several local independent schools. The school fields several basketball teams based on gender and age. JCDS Technology Specialist Brendan Haney will lead the coaches and teams through a great season. Games will be on Monday (3rd & 4th grade boys), Tuesday (5th & 6th grade boys), or Thursday (3rd - 6th grade girls).

    A required Parents Meeting will be held at JCDS on Thursday, August 17 at 5:30 p.m.

    Participation Ages: 3rd - 6th grade
    Days: Mondays, Tuesdays, & Thursdays
    Time: 4:30 - 6:00 p.m.
    Length of Program: August - November
    Participation Fees: $135 per month (3 months)
    Uniform Fee: $100 for new players, or those unable to reuse their uniform from the 2016 season.
     

  • Chorus

    JCDS Music Specialist Virginia Dickert leads the choral program for all interested students. The Chorus performs several times a year both on and off campus.

    The JCDS Dance Team led by Ms. Lexie Bristol offers classes Monday - Thursday from 1:30 to 5:30 p.m. for Pre-K 3 - 6th grade students.

  • Drumline

    Chrystal Staples, JCDS Band & Drumline Specialist, will once again lead the JCDS Drumline. Interested students are invited to audition in October. There will be multiple performances throughout the year.

  • Flag Football: JCDS Sharks Teams

    JCDS is a member of an athletics conference comprised of local independent schools. JCDS will once again offer co-ed Flag Football for all interested students. The program will consist of weekly practices, Tuesday night games, and an end of season tournament. 

    Participation Ages: 3rd - 6th grade
    Days: Tuesdays & Fridays
    Time: 3:05 - 4:45 p.m.
    Length: January - March
    Participation fees: $100 per month (2 months)
    Uniform Fee: $50 for new players, or those unable to reuse their uniform from the 2016 season.

  • Guitar

    JCDS partners with Great Scott Music Academy to provide multiple instructors who offer individual guitar lessons for JCDS students.

    Participation Ages: Pre-K 4 - 6th grade

  • Jazzy J's

    JCDS Music Specialist Virginia Dickert leads the Jazzy J's. This group is a percussion ensemble using our school's Orff instruments, which are xylophones, metallophones, and glockenspiels. The group performs several times a year on and off campus.

  • Karate

    Jacksonville Country Day School is proud to continue our partnership with Karate America.

    Participation Ages: Pre-K 4 - 6th grade
    Days: Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays
    Time: 3:05 - 4:15 p.m.
    Length: August - May
    Participation Fees: $125 per month (2 days per week) or $150 per month (3 days per week)

  • Lego League

    JCDS Science Specialist Shannon Johnson will lead the JCDS Lego League. During this time students will study a wide variety of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) related topics. 

    Participation Ages: K-6th grade
    Days, Times, and Program Lengths are dependent upon grade level:
    September - January
    Grades 4 - 5: Mondays 3:05 - 4:30 p.m. 
    Grade 6 (competition team): Tuesdays 3:05 - 4:30 p.m. 

    February - April
    Grades 2 - 3: Thursdays 3:05 - 4:15 p.m.

    April - May
    Kindergarten, Grade 1: Mondays 3:05 - 4:05 p.m. 

    Participation Fees: $95 per month
  • Little Sharks: Enrichment Explorations

    This program is designed just for our youngest shark friends to allow them a chance to try a variety of activities throughout the year. Children will build teamwork and problem-solving skills through group games; explore music, instruments, and movement; learn soccer skills through fun games and exercises; increase coordination and develop calming skills while learning yoga. Students will participate in each activity for 7 weeks before trying something new.

    Participation Ages: Pre-K 3 and Pre-K 4
    Day: Thursdays
    Time: 1:30 - 2:15 p.m.
    Activities: Jumping Beans (active & structured group games), Music, Soccer, and Yoga
    Participation Fee: $55/month
  • Math Olympiad

    JCDS is pleased to continue the Math Olympiad team with 5th grade Lead Teacher Darcy Lavis. Students will tackle different problems each week and learn new math skills throughout the year.

    Participation Ages: 5th - 6th grade

    Time: 3:05 - 4:15 p.m.

  • Piano Lessons

    JCDS is a member of an athletics conference comprised of local independent schools. We are pleased to once again offer coed volleyball for interested students. The program will consist of weekly practices and conference-wide jamborees. 

    Participation Ages: 3rd - 6th grade
    Days: Wednesdays & Fridays
    Time: 3:05 - 4:45 p.m.

  • Yoga

    Yoga is an interactive way to encourage positive self-esteem. This class is designed to increase flexibility and coordination and will be taught be Krysta Triglia, a JCDS Associate Teacher.
