Board of Trustees
Jacksonville Country Day School, like many other private elementary schools, is governed by its exceptional and volunteer Board of Trustees. The following individuals have donated their time and expertise to help make JCDS one of the best private elementary schools in Jacksonville, Florida.
President: David Kight
David Kight joined the board in 2003. He graduated from JCDS in 1981 and went on to receive a Finance degree from the University of Florida. He serves on the Finance Committee. He is the COO of Akida Holdings LLC. He and his wife Katie have two daughters. One is a 6th grader at JCDS and the other a recent graduate of the school.
Vice President: Rick Anderson
Rick Anderson joined the Board in 2007 and is currently serving on the Executive and Governance Committees. Anderson is the executive vice president - Television of the PGA TOUR. He resides in Ponte Vedra Beach with his wife, Kim, and their two children, who both currently attend JCDS.
Treasurer: Rick Friedman
Committees: Finance (chair)
Rick Friedman joined the board in 2008, and is currently serving on the Finance Committee. He holds a bachelor's degree in finance as well as an MBA from the University of Florida. He is president of Victoria Development Company, located in Newburgh, Indiana. Mr. Friedman enjoys golf, fitness, travel, and especially spending time with his family. He and his wife, Beverly, have one child, who recently graduated from JCDS.
Secretary: Mike Shumer
Mike Shumer joined the board in 2007 and serves on the Development Committee. Mr. Shumer proudly graduated from ninth grade at JCDS in 1980. He is CEO of Medical Life, Inc. and Crucial Care. He enjoys contributing to his community and myriad outdoor activities. The center of his world consists of his wife, Tammy, and his two sons, one a recent graduate from JCDS and the other a 4th grader at the school.
Member at Large: Michael Agliata
Committee: Building and Grounds (chair)
Mike Agliata joined the Board in 2011. He has two children attending JCDS – a son who is in the 1st grade and a daughter in Junior Kindergarten. Mr. Agliata is the vice president, general counsel, and secretary of Interline Brands, Inc. He also previously taught as an adjunct professor at Florida Coastal School of Law. In addition to his Board and volunteer service with JCDS, he also serves on the Board of the First Coast Business Leadership Network, a charitable organization devoted to finding employment for persons with disabilities. Mr. Agliata enjoys spending time with his family and friends, as well as traveling abroad, exercising, and playing golf.
Member at Large: Henry Brown
Henry Brown is the CEO for Miller Electric Company and joined the Board in 2013. A Jacksonville native, he attended Stetson University where earned a Bachelor of Business Administration with a major in Accounting and a minor in Business Law. He earned his Masters of Accountancy from Stetson’s Business School and is a Certified Public Accountant licensed by the State of Florida. After graduating from Stetson, he started his career as an auditor for Deloitte where he worked with clients in wide range of industries. Following Deloitte, he worked as a financial analyst for Atlantic Marine. Mr. Brown returned to the Miller Electric in 2001 and became CEO of the company in 2012. Mr. Brown is involved in a variety of community and industry organizations in addition to JCDS. His wife's name is Jennifer and he has three daughters who attend JCDS.

Member at Large: Irene Wolfe Cywes

Irene Wolfe Cywes joined the board in 2009. She currently serves on the Compensation & Benefits Committee and as secretary of the Board’s Executive Committee since the 2010 term. Mrs. Cywes was born and raised in Canada. She attended McGill University in Canada and the University of Michigan, where she studied Law. She and her family love to travel and together have visited almost every continent. Mrs. Cywes is a voracious reader and enjoys playing tennis. Her twins are recent graduates of JCDS.

Marc Edwards was elected to the board of trustees of Jacksonville Country Day School in 2012. He is a former professional football player .Mr. Edwards played as a fullback for the San Francisco 49ers, the Cleveland Browns, the New England Patriots (where he helped win a Super Bowl in 2001), the Jacksonville Jaguars, and the Chicago Bears. He is currently a product manager for Speedshield Fleet Solutions. He holds a BA in Business Management from the University of Notre Dame. Mr. Edwards has one daughter at JCDS and his older daughter is a recent graduate.

Reid Gray has been a board member since 2009 and is married to Emily Gray, who is a JCDS alum. One of their daughters recently graduated fom JCDS, one is still attending the school, and they recently welcomed a new daughter to their family. Mr. Gray serves on the Development Committee with a focus on strategic planning and fund raising. Other volunteer efforts with JCDS have included serving as a member of the Capital Campaign committee. By profession, Mr. Gray serves as the CEO for Vitalcare Homehealth a regional home health agency on the west coast of Florida. He also served as an early childhood educator (5th grade) in the Hillsborough county school system. Mr. Gray graduated from the University of South Florida with a degree in Early Childhood Education and a minor in Business Administration. Outside of school, he enjoys golf, traveling with family, and coaching his daughters' soccer teams.
Member at Large: Florice Gregory
Committee: Compensation and Benefits
Florice Gregory joined the board of Jacksonville Country Day School in 2012. She currently works in financial planning, reporting, and analysis for Florida Blue. She started her career with Ernst & Young as an auditor, and has held senior positions in finance with prominent firms such as Toyota, Office Depot, and Solantic Urgent Care. Mrs. Gregory holds a BS in Accounting from Cal State University Northridge and an MBA from the University of Florida. She has a daughter and two sons who graduated from JCDS.
Member at Large: Beth Johnson
Beth Johnson, who joined the Board in 2013, is a controller, U.S. Forest Resources, at Rayonier Inc. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in English from Syracuse University and a Master of Accountancy from the University of North Florida. In her spare time, she enjoys reading, travel, and good food. Mrs. Johnson co-chaired the United Way Campaign for Rayonier for two years and also serves on the board of the Harvey Bernhardt Foundation. Her husband is Bart and her daughter attends JCDS.
Member at Large: Jeff Kellmanson
Committee: Marketing (chair) & Governance
Jeff Kellmanson joined the Board in 2010. After a successful business career, he left the corporate world to embark on his second career as a stay-at-home dad for his children, both of whom are JCDS alum. He has been a steadfast supporter of independent school for much of his life, having at various times been: a student (Allendale Columbia School), a faculty member (Culver Military Academy), and a Trustee (Allendale Columbia School and JCDS). He holds an MBA from the University of Rochester in Entrepreneurship and is an avid golfer and chef.
Member at Large: Dr. Yazan Khatib
Dr. Yazan Khatib is an interventional cardiovascular specialist. He joined the board in 2010 and is serving on the Development Committee. He is the proud father of a JCDS 5th grader and a kindergartener, and also has a 3-year-old daughter. He moved to Jacksonville in 2002 as co-founder of First Coast Cardiovascular Institute. Dr. Khatib is also co-founder and chair of the Board of Directors for Save a Leg Save a Life Foundation.
Member at Large: Amy Martin
Amy Martin is a former hospitality consultant and special event planner who worked for PKF Consulting, the National Hockey League, and Event Concepts and Services before opening her own agency. She holds a BS in Finance and Marketing from Cornell University, where she attended the university's School of Hotel Administration. Since putting her career on hold to focus on her young children, she has continued to stay active in the nonprofit industry through her work with Community PedsCare, a pediatric program of Community Hospice, and the Tom Coughlin Jay Fund. In her free time, Mrs. Martin enjoys running, playing piano, reading, writing fiction, and is a lifelong New York Giants fan. She is married to Todd and has three children who attend JCDS. She joined the JCDS Board of Trustees in 2013.
Member at Large: Julie McQuiddy
Committee: Committee on Trustees
Julie McQuiddy began her service on the Board of Trustees in 2007 and currently sits on the Committee on Trustees. McQuiddy attended the University of Florida, where she received a Bachelor of Science degree in Statistics and a MBA. After working in public accounting for ten years, McQuiddy left the corporate world to be at home with her children. McQuiddy and her husband Dean have three children. In addition to spending time with her family, she is an active member of her church and donates a considerable amount of her time to charities throughout Northeast Florida.
Member at Large: Ron Price
Committee: Chair 2012-2013
Ron Price joined the board in 2005, serves as the president of the Board, and is a member of the Finance Committee. He is an executive vice president/chief financial officer of the PGA TOUR. Mr. Price is a Certified Public Accountant and prior to joining the PGA TOUR, he was a partner with Ernst & Young. He is married to Cindy, and they have two children who attended and graduated from JCDS — in the class of 2007 and class of 2009 respectively — and now attend Bolles.
Member at Large: Clint Pyle
Clint Pyle was elected to the board of trustees of Jacksonville Country Day School in 2012. He is currently the VP of finance for Stellar. Pyle holds a BS in Corporate Finance from Stetson University and an MBA from the University of North Florida. He is also a Certified Public Accountant (state of New Hampshire) and is certified by the Financial Management Institute of Management Accountants. His son attends JCDS.
Member at Large: Rebecca Schwam
Rebecca Schwam joined the board in 2006. She is past chair of the Marketing Committee. She and her husband, Brian, have two daughters, one a 2009 JCDS Graduate, and the other a 2012 JCDS alum. Rebeccas works as a public relations and marketing professional in the greater Jacksonville area and has had the opportunity to volunteer with many non-profit organizations in the Jacksonville community since moving here with her family in 1998. In her spare time, Schwam enjoys tennis, exploring new places and spending time with her husband Brian, their children, and friends.
Member at Large: Everette M. Seay IV
Everette Seay joined the board in 2007 and currently serves on the Finance Committee. He has also served on the Compensation and Benefits and Marketing Committees, been the treasurer of the Parents’ Association, a class agent, and is a member of the basketball coaching staff at the school. His wife, Kristen, is an alumna of JCDS (1989). He has a son and a daughter who both attend JCDS. He is a former member of the United States Army, multi-lingual, and an avid golfer. He enjoys playing soccer, fishing, and traveling.
Member at Large: Dennis M. Smith, Jr. M.D.
Dennis Smith joined the board in 2006 and currently serves on the Development Committee. He has also has been the chairman of the Capital Campaign. He and his wife, Julie, have a daughter, who graduated from JCDS in 2008 and is now at The Bolles School. He currently sits on the boards of directors of two molecular diagnostics companies, Clarient, Inc. and RedPath Integrated Pathology, Inc., where he is also the president and CEO. Dr. Smith enjoys fishing, fine wine, and creative writing in his free time.
Member at Large: Bill Steitz
Committees: Buildings & Grounds
Bill Steitz joined the board in 2007 and serves as chair of the Building and Grounds Committee. He is married to Pamela who is a past president of the Parents Association (2010-11). They have three children: two sons who graduated from JCDS and currently attend the Episcopal School of Jacksonville, and a daughter in the 6th grade at JCDS. Steitz is the president of Sauer Holdings Inc., which is a general contracting company. He enjoys family activities, golf, and skiing.
Member at Large: Carl Tremble
Carl Tremble joined the board of trustees of Jacksonville Country Day School in 2012. He is the national director of business development at SingleSource Services Corporation, a full-service human resources outsourcing company. Tremble holds in BS in Sociology, with a minor in Economics, from Furman University, where he was the all time leading rusher for the university's football team. He was drafted by the NFL team the Phoenix Cardinals out of college and also played professionally for the St. Louis Rams before he retired. Tremble has two boys at JCDS. He is also the co-chair of the school's African-American Legacy Initiative and an active member of the American Heart Association's Executive Leadership team.
Member at Large: Regina Alberini Young
Committee: Compensation and Benefits
Regina Alberini Young joined the Board in 2010 and serves on the Compensation and Benefits Committee. Young practiced labor and employment law for 20 years, and she recently retired from Rogers Towers, P.A. to spend more time with her family. Young and her husband, Mark, have two boys; the elder a graduate of JCDS and now a student at the Episcopal School of Jacksonville; and their youngest is a 6th grader at JCDS. Young also serves on the Board of Directors for the Hubbard House, most recently as president of the Board.
Honorary Member : Patricia S. Blanchard
Pat Blanchard began on the Board of JCDS as the president of the Parents' Association in 1995. After that allotted one year term, she was invited to “officially” join the Board. Blancard’s two sons — both JCDS alums — started in the JK program. She served as corresponding secretary plus co-chaired the Capital Campaign with Bill Bond for the 4th Grade Wing. After 10 years, Blanchard was voted the school’s first Honorary Board member; she continues to serve JCDS on the Buildings & Grounds Committee. Blanchard has been the director of the Jacksonville Women’s Business Center (JWBC), which advances the success of women entrepreneurs at every stage of business development since 2009. The JWBC is a program of the JAX Chamber Foundation and funded in part by the US Small Business Administration. Her passion is gardening, having been instrumental in planning and planting much of the campus landscaping.
Honorary Member: Daniel S. Yip, M.D.
Dr. Daniel Yip joined the board in 2004 and served as president from 2009-2011. He was born and raised in southern California and moved to Jacksonville in 2001 from St. Louis to be director of Heart Failure and Transplantation at Mayo Clinic. He has two children who graduated from JCDS: a son in the class of 2003 and a daughter Catherine in the class of 2008.
