Board of Trustees

Jacksonville Country Day School, like many other private elementary schools, is governed by its exceptional and volunteer Board of Trustees. The following individuals have donated their time and expertise to help make JCDS one of the best private elementary schools in Jacksonville, Florida.

  • President: Rick Anderson

    Rick Anderson is the executive vice president of global media for the PGA TOUR. Mr. Anderson holds a B.S. and a J.D., both from the University of Florida. He resides in Ponte Vedra Beach with his wife, Kim, and their two children, one who currently attends JCDS and another who is an alum of the school. When not working, he enjoys cooking and wine.
  • Vice President: Jeff Kellmanson

    Committee: Advancement (chair) 
    Jeff Kellmanson joined the board in 2010. After a successful business career, he left the corporate world to embark on his second career as a stay-at-home dad for his children, both of whom are JCDS alums. His son Jack graduated in 2011 and his daughter Libby in 2013. He has been a steadfast supporter of independent schools for much of his life, having at various times been: a student (Allendale Columbia School), a faculty member (Culver Military Academy), and a Trustee (Allendale Columbia School and JCDS). He holds a B.A. from Franklin & Marshall College and an MBA from Simon Business School at the University of Rochester. Mr. Kellmanson is an avid golfer and chef who also enjoys rowing.
  • Treasurer: Rick Friedman

    Committees: Finance (chair)
    Rick Friedman joined the board in 2008. He holds a bachelor's degree in finance as well as an MBA from the University of Florida. He is president of Victoria Development Company, located in Newburgh, Indiana. Mr. Friedman enjoys golf, fitness, travel, and especially spending time with his family. He and his wife, Beverly, have one child, who graduated from JCDS in 2013.
  • Secretary: Mike Shumer

    Mike Shumer joined the board in 2007. Mr. Shumer proudly graduated from 9th grade at JCDS in 1980. He is CEO of Crucial Care and holds a doctorate in Veterinary Medicine. He enjoys contributing to his community and enjoys spending time with family, traveling, and water sports. The center of his world consists of his wife, Tammy, and his two sons. One son is recent graduate from JCDS and the other is a 6th grader at the school.
  • Member at Large: Michael Agliata

    Committee: Building and Grounds (chair)
    Mike Agliata joined the board in 2011. He has two children attending JCDS. Mr. Agliata is the vice president, general counsel, and secretary of Interline Brands, Inc. He earned a B.A. from Florida State University and a J.D. from the University of Florida School of Law. In addition to his board and volunteer service with JCDS, he also serves on the development council of Wolfson Children's Hospital. Mr. Agliata enjoys spending time with his family, which includes his wife Natalie, as well as traveling and playing golf.
  • Member at Large: Henry Brown

    Committees: Compensation & Benefits (chair)/Finance
    Henry Brown is the CEO for Miller Electric Company. He joined the board in 2013. A Jacksonville native, he attended Stetson University where earned a Bachelor of Business Administration with a major in Accounting and a minor in Business Law. He earned his Masters of Accountancy from Stetson’s Business School and is a Certified Public Accountant licensed by the State of Florida. After graduating from Stetson, he started his career as an auditor for Deloitte where he worked with clients in wide range of industries. Following Deloitte, he worked as a financial analyst for Atlantic Marine. Mr. Brown returned to the Miller Electric in 2001 and became CEO of the company in 2012. Mr. Brown is involved in a variety of community and industry organizations in addition to JCDS. He and his wife Jennifer have three daughters who attend JCDS. He enjoys golf and traveling in his spare time.
  • Member at Large: Bryan Chamberlain

    Committee: Buildings & Grounds
    Bryan Chamberlain is the COO of George A. Israel Jr., Inc. He holds a BA in Accounting from the Univerity of Florida. Mr. Chamberlain and his wife Cindy have three children who have attended JCDS. 
  • Member at Large: Juli Davis

    Committee: Advancement
    Juli Davis is a stay-at-home mom to two children who attend JCDS. She holds a B.A. from the University of Florida and an M.A. from the University of Central Florida. She enjoys attending University of Florida football games with her husband Troy and also volunteers at other organizations in the Jacksonville community.
  • Member at Large: Marc Edwards

    Committee: Buildings & Grounds
    Marc Edwards was elected to the board of trustees of Jacksonville Country Day School in 2012. He is a former professional football player. Mr. Edwards played as a fullback for the San Francisco 49ers, the Cleveland Browns, the New England Patriots (where he helped win a Super Bowl in 2001), the Jacksonville Jaguars, and the Chicago Bears. He is currently a telemetry consultant. He holds a B.A. in Business Management from the University of Notre Dame. Mr. Edwards and his wife Darsi have a daughter and a son at JCDS. His older daughters are recent graduates. He enjoys attending sporting events and watching his kids compete in athletics. He is also on the Board of Directors for the Notre Dame Monogram Club.
  • Member at Large: Florice Gregory

    Committee: Compensation and Benefits
    Florice Gregory joined the board of Jacksonville Country Day School in 2012. She is the vice president of compliance at Baker Distributing Company. She started her career with Ernst & Young as an auditor, and has held senior positions in finance with prominent firms such as Toyota, Office Depot, and Solantic Urgent Care. Mrs. Gregory holds a B.S. in Accounting from California State University, Northridge, and an M.B.A. from the University of Florida. Mrs. Gregory and her husband, Arthur, have a daughter and two sons who graduated from JCDS. She enjoys reading, bicycling, and hanging out with family in her spare time.
  • Member at Large: Beth Johnson

    Committee: Finance
    Beth Johnson, who joined the board in 2013, is a controller of U.S. Forest Resources at Rayonier Inc. She holds a B.A. in English from Syracuse University and a Master of Accountancy from the University of North Florida. In her spare time, she enjoys reading, travel, and good food. Mrs. Johnson co-chaired the United Way Campaign for Rayonier for two years and also serves on the board of the Harvey Bernhardt Foundation. Her daughter attends JCDS.
  • Member at Large: Nick Kavalieros

    Nick Kavalieros is an alum from the JCDS class of 1987. He is the managing director at Forum Capital Group and holds a B.A. from the University of North Florida. He and his wife Lisa have three children who have attended JCDS, including one who is a current student. Mr. Kavalieros also serves on the Pediatric Oncology Board at the Dana Farber Cancer Institute. He enjoys the beach, family, and travel when not working.
  • Member at Large: Clint Pyle

    Committee: Governance
    Clint Pyle was elected to the board of trustees of Jacksonville Country Day School in 2012. He is currently the divisional vice president of finance for Stellar. Mr. Pyle holds a B.S. in Corporate Finance from Stetson University and an M.B.A. from the University of North Florida. His son has attended JCDS for four years. He enjoys golf, fishing, traveling, hunting, and spending time with family in his spare time. He currently serves on the board of Dreams Come True, and previously served on the boards of Take Stock in Children and First Tee of Jacksonville.
  • Member at Large: Everette M. Seay IV

    Committee: Audit (chair)
    Everette Seay joined the board in 2007 and currently serves as the chair of the Audit committee. He has also served on the Finance, Compensation and Benefits, and Marketing committees, been the treasurer of the Parents’ Association, a class agent, and a member of the basketball coaching staff at JCDS. His wife, Kristen, is an alum of JCDS ('89). He has a son who attended, and a daughter who currently attends, JCDS. He is a former member of the United States Army, multilingual, and an avid golfer. He enjoys playing soccer, fishing, and traveling in his spare time.
  • Member at Large: Eddie Sim

    Eddie Sim is president of Physician Integration at Baptist Health. He earned a B.A. from Boston University, an M.S. from Albany Medical College, and a B.A. from Boston University. He and his wife Susan have two children who currently attend JCDS. He enjoys golf, college basketball, and cooking in his free time.
  • Member at Large: William Steitz

    Committees: Buildings & Grounds
    William Steitz joined the board in 2007 and serves on the Building and Grounds committee. He is married to Pamela who is a past president of the Parents Association (2010-11). They have three children: two sons and a daughter who graduated from JCDS and currently attend the Episcopal School of Jacksonville (ESJ). Mr. Steitz is the president and CEO of Sauer Holdings Inc. and he holds a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Lehigh University. He enjoys fitness and outdoor activities, as well as reading, in his spare time. Mr. Steitz also serves on the Board of Trustees at ESJ.
  • Member at Large: Carl Tremble

    Committee: Development
    Carl Tremble joined the board of trustees of Jacksonville Country Day School in 2012. He is the healthcare investment sales director at Cross Regions Real Estate. Mr. Tremble holds a B.S. in Sociology, with a minor in Economics, from Furman University, where he was the all time leading rusher for the university's football team. He was drafted by the Phoenix Cardinals out of college and also played professionally for the St. Louis Rams before he retired. Tremble has two boys, one an alum and the other currently at JCDS. He is interested in boating, planes, and travel.
  • Member at Large: Regina Alberini Young

    Committees: Governance (chair) & Executive
    Regina Alberini Young joined the Board in 2010 and serves on the Compensation and Benefits Committee. Mrs. Young practiced labor and employment law for 20 years, and she recently retired from Rogers Towers, P.A. to spend more time with her family. Young and her husband, Mark, have two boys who are both JCDS alums. In her spare time, she enjoys playing tennis, traveling, and spending time with her family.
  • Member at Large: Irene Wolfe

    Committees: Compensation & Benefits (chair)
    Irene Wolfe joined the board in 2009. She currently serves on the Compensation & Benefits Committee and has been secretary of the board’s Executive committee since the 2010 term. Ms. Wolfe was born and raised in Canada. She attended McGill University in Canada as well as the University of Michigan, where she studied Law. She and her family love to travel together and have visited almost every continent. Ms. Wolfe is a voracious reader and enjoys playing tennis. Her twins are recent graduates of JCDS.
  • Ex Officio Member : Patricia S. Blanchard

    Pat Blanchard began on the Board of JCDS as the president of the Parents' Association in 1995. After that allotted one year term, she was invited to “officially” join the Board. Mrs. Blanchard’s two sons, both JCDS alums, started in the Pre-K program. She served as corresponding secretary plus co-chaired the Capital Campaign with Bill Bond for the 4th Grade Wing. After 10 years, Mrs. Blanchard was voted the school’s first honorary board member. She continues to serve JCDS on the Buildings and Grounds committee. Blanchard has been the director of the Jacksonville Women’s Business Center (JWBC) since 2009, which advances the success of women entrepreneurs at every stage of business development. The JWBC is a program of the JAX Chamber Foundation and funded in part by the U.S. Small Business Administration. Her passion is gardening, in which she has been instrumental in planning and planting much of the campus landscaping.
  • Ex Officio Member: David Kight

    David Kight joined the board in 2003. He graduated from JCDS in 1981 and went on to receive a Finance degree from the University of Florida. He serves on the Finance Committee. Mr. Kight is the COO of Akida Holdings, LLC. He and his wife, Katie, have two daughters, both of whom are recent graduates of the school. He also serves on the board of the American Enterpise Bank and enjoys golf in his spare time.
  • Ex Officio Member: Dennis M. Smith, Jr. M.D.

    Dr. Dennis Smith, M.D. joined the board in 2006. He and his wife, Julie, have a daughter, who graduated from JCDS in 2008 and is now at The Bolles School. Dr. Smith enjoys fly fishing, wine tasting, and creative writing in his free time. He is the president of Smith Management Consulting Services.
  • Ex Officio Member: Daniel S. Yip, M.D.

    Dr. Daniel Yip joined the board in 2004 and served as president from 2009-2011. He was born and raised in southern California and moved to Jacksonville in 2001 from St. Louis to be director of Heart Failure and Transplantation at Mayo Clinic. He has two children who graduated from JCDS. His son was in the class of 2003 and his daughter was in the class of 2008. He earned a B.A. from the University of California, Los Angeles and an M.D. from the American University of the Caribbean. He is married to Teresa Rodriguez-Yip.
